Dr Martyn Cox grew up in Devizes and attended Devizes School before studying for an Honours Degree in Cell Biology and Immunology at Plymouth University.
Martyn then studied Dentistry at Bristol University whilst at the same time obtaining his PhD into the molecular biology of virus infections and human oral cancer. He also completed post-doctoral research into Human Papilloma virus Oncology during this time before gaining his Dental degree in 1991. Martyn has been awarded numerous research prizes in the UK and has published over 40 papers in both UK and international peer reviewed journals including several oral cancer textbooks. He has lectured on oral cancer, human papilloma virus genetics and Implantology both in the UK, Europe and the USA.
Over the past 30 years Martyn has developed a specialist interest in the field of Implantology and Oral surgery with a detailed knowledge and experience in CT guided implantology. Martyn has carried our surgical placements in IV sedation and oral surgery at RAF Wroughton, Royal United Hospital Bath and is currently an Honorary Oral Surgeon at Solihull Hospital, Birmingham.
Martyn has been involved in placing, restoring and teaching Implantology for over 25 years and has placed over 5000 implants dental implants.
Martyn joined the Freeman & Rosser Team in September 2017 as our part time implantologist. During the years working with Freeman & Rosser, Martyn has achieved a 100% audited success rate including single crowns, bridges, over dentures and full arches.
He is trained in, and teaches other clinicians advanced dental implant techniques including guided bone regeneration and sinus lift techniques. He currently mentors around 50 other UK dentists and has been an implant mentor/teacher for Bredent, Bicon and Implantium Implant systems, and the VSS MSc Implantology course. Martyn is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (England), the International Team for Implantology and lectures at the Royal College Oral Surgery course and sits on the Editorial board of Special Care in Dentistry.
Martyn believes strongly in developing a personal relationship with his own patients and since all advanced implant and cosmetic treatments are carried out in house, his patients receive the ultimate in co-ordinated, logical dental implant treatments resulting in long lasting, safe treatment options. His experience both clinically and academically afford his patients the knowledge that they are in very capable hands.
